At least, that was the plan….

Excerpt from A King and a Pawn by Liv Olteano:
“Would you take me in as a trophy, Bert?” he asked, smiling oddly, a sort of indulgent look in his eyes. I wasn’t going to outsmart him, that was for sure. Luckily I didn’t think I had to. “I wouldn’t be taking you in at all. You and your kids would simply accompany me. I’m sure you can find something of value to offer me so I’ll be willing to go that way. And then you’d find something of value to offer Weiss and the Council to give you guys, say, political asylum?” “You’ve thought of everything, haven’t you?” I shrugged. “I’m sure you did. I don’t think you’re a fool, Will. I’m sure you’re not, in fact. So I’m giving you the courtesy of not treating you as one. A courtesy I hope you’ll give me too.” “Implying that I have not so far?” he asked, stepping toward me again. My pulse spiked. “I wasn’t implying that at all.” We were face-to-face, a step apart at most. My mind stuttered over the few stray thoughts I managed to recognize. It was unusual someone’s presence would affect me this much, this soon. Was he that special? Was our chemistry that special? Or was he using some sort of spell on me? I didn’t think that was beneath him. Magic wasn’t beneath any magic-wielding fey, just like changing into a wolf wasn’t beneath me as werewolf. It was a natural part of who we were. I just wasn’t that used to his natural part, and the very idea made me smile. “What could I offer you that you’d like to have?” he asked as his breath touched my face with every word he uttered. “Oh, I could think of several things,” I replied. He leaned toward me. His lips brushed against mine now when he spoke. “I could think of several things I’d like to offer you as well.” I gulped. Shit, I couldn’t think with my dick. Not now at least. I so wanted to. It would be so easy to whisper it sweetly: “Fuck my brains out and I’ll be on your side.” But I wasn’t here for shits and giggles, so I couldn’t. There was no reason I couldn’t hope I’d get a fuck out of the situation somewhere down the line. The more time we spent together, the better chance of that happening. That was pretty solid motivation to spin things in a way that would benefit us all in the end. There. I wasn’t doing this for my selfish fuck-greedy self but for the greater good. I was a fucking humanitarian, feyitarian, whateveritarian. “I’ll only ask for one small thing for myself,” I whispered softly. He brushed his lips against mine. The touch sent little fiery thrills down my nerve endings, from the skin of my lips right to the pulsing muscle of my heart. I felt his breath hitch at the contact, and the idea it might affect him almost as much as it was affecting me sent a shiver down my spine. We could have been faking it, both of us. This was a negotiation of sorts, and now was the time to bring on our top game. But I felt it in my gut that this connection was real, that it wasn’t bullshit for either one of us. I just knew it in the pit of my stomach. I wondered if he knew it too, as clearly as I did right in that instant. His scent didn’t assault my senses since he’d been hanging out in my personal space for a while now. My senses were bathed in his scent already. But I could feel the pounding of his heart as I deepened the kiss; I could feel his muscles clench and unwind with sensual tension while my body sang with it. Fuck me sideways, I wanted him right now. I wanted him so bad it almost gutted me. The feel of him languidly moving his tongue against mine made my blood turn into liquid fire, scalding my insides and bringing up my body temperature to heights I didn’t think I’d felt before after just kissing. Everything in my body screamed, This. This is it. This is what you’ve been waiting for, for so fucking long! “What do you want?” he asked after he pulled back, his forehead leaning against mine. Fuck, fuck it, fuck! “I want all the information you can get from the Archives on a certain topic.”

Meet the author:
Liv Olteano is a voracious reader, music lover, and coffee addict extraordinaire. And occasional geek. Okay, more than occasional. She believes stories are the best kind of magic there is. And life would be horrible without magic. Her hobbies include losing herself in the minds and souls of characters, giving up countless nights of sleep to get to know said characters, and trying to introduce them to the world. Sometimes they appreciate her efforts. The process would probably go quicker if they’d bring her a cup of coffee now and then when stopping by. Characters—what can you do, right? Liv has a penchant for quirky stories and is a reverent lover of diversity. She can be found loitering around the Internet at odd hours and being generally awkward and goofy at all times. 28/10/2014 0 Comments Prince of Faith by Belinda McBride(An UncommonWhore 3)![]() Belinda McBride: Author Bio Belinda is an award-winning, top selling author of erotic romance, speculative fiction and LGBTQ romance. She lives in far Northern California with her family and a pack of Siberian Huskies. A graduate of CSU Chico, she managed to attend the notorious party school without once getting drunk, arrested or appearing in a "Girls Gone Wild" video. Her main focus of study was classical and archival history, cultural anthropology and theatre arts. After several years in the workforce. Belinda purchased a laptop computer and from there, knew that her childhood dream of being an author would come to life. Belinda's books are available at all the typical distributors as well as on the publisher's homepages. I asked Belinda about helpful tools and resources she depends on: One of the most frustrating and rewarding aspects of being a writer is that no two books are alike. Since writing is an art as well as a discipline, I find I’m sometimes slave to my moods, my physical health and to whatever happens to be going on at home when I’m working. In order to be consistently productive, I lean on a few resources, tips from my writer’s toolbox and the odd trick or two along the way. First comes habit. Every day, I open the computer and follow a set routine. Generally I scan email and messages on social media. After that, I write. Even if it’s just for a few minutes, I write something new. I review what I did the prior day, evaluate the project I want to work on and then move on to other tasks. Setting a routine creates habits, like brushing your teeth and washing your face before bed. Next, I make lists of tasks and prioritize them. I’m a terribly scattered person and have many non-writing responsibilities. Right now, I’m preparing for a convention. Before I really settled into my final tasks, I got bad news about a friend and that shook me emotionally. I lost a couple days of preparation so finally sat down and made my lists of what was necessary and what wasn’t. That allowed me to focus on what HAD to be done. Many of my books are part of a series, and I find it a challenge to keep everything in order…from characters to plot lines, to alien planets and futuristic weapons. My solution is to keep a spreadsheet for each series as well as handwritten notes about each character. When I write, I keep the spreadsheet open as I work. If I have problems with small details, I use the header and footer of the document to note names, descriptions and other small details I don’t want to keep looking up. My final secret weapon is to get up, walk away from the computer and go play with my dogs. J We all need to take breaks to refresh our bodies and minds. Though writing is largely discipline, that little nugget of inspiration takes some nurturing and that won’t happen with a tired mind and body. Thanks for sharing, Belinda. I'm definitely going to try adding more to my headers and footers to help me keep track of things. He’d come forward, snaking his arms around Toren’s sheet-covered waist and pulling him hard against his body. “It’s just a kiss,” Rook breathed before he put his lips against Toren’s. Should he protest? Had he protested? Toren couldn’t remember. In that moment there was nothing but Rook’s firm lips, gently teasing his own apart. Toren kissed back, tasting the other man, sucking at his bottom lip. Rook’s mouth was intoxicating, and quite suddenly, Toren forgot why he’d ever resisted. He liked kissing Rook. But after only an appetizer’s worth of his mouth, Rook pulled away. The sensation of their mouths pressed together lingered, and Toren was dumb with the moment. Lost on it. Uncertain what they’d even been talking about. “Do you remember me now?” Rook asked. “Mmn,” Toren agreed, warmth lingering on his lips. “Rook.” Silence was his reply. The arms around his waist fell away, leaving him feeling cold. Toren slowly opened his eyes to find he was standing alone, clutching his sheet, as Rook walked away from him toward the staircase. Here's a transcript of the interview: 1. What is your favourite part of Most Beautiful Words, and why? The last ten or so pages of the book. They make me cry every single time I read them. 2. Where did the inspiration for Tommy Johnson come from? While Tommy Johnson is not my Paw-Paw, his kindness, compassion, work ethic, and love of his family are traits the two men share. I based Tommy on what I observed a good man to be while Paw-Paw was still with us. 3. What did your parents want you to be when you grew up? I get the impression that my parents knew from a young age that I was going to be a wild handful with a stubborn streak that would make mules back off and say, “H-hey, I want no part of this.” and that having expectations of my future career would be dangerous. That said, I truly don’t think anyone expected me to write gay romance for a living. But both parents have been incredibly supportive of me and I’m so grateful to them. 4. Name one thing you learned in high school and how it has helped you as an adult. You will hurt people and people will hurt you, it’s unavoidable. Sometimes it’s on purpose, sometimes it’s on accident, sometimes you/they don’t even know it happened. But there is so much value in kindness and trying to bring kindness into the world to balance out the hurt. 5. Do you buy a book because of the cover, the blurb, or some other reason? Reviews! Totally, completely, because of the review. Or a recommendation from a fellow librarian. But I do stop and drool over pretty covers. I’m a cover-whore, I admit it. Tour Dates/Stops:

That might be a touch dramatic, but it's nevertheless one hundred percent true. Because they taught me the joy of reading, of escaping into worlds crafted of words. Have you ever been nine years old and sure of nothing so much as that you don't belong? Looked at the world from behind glasses, and wondered why you don't fit? Then turn the page and see… there you are, running from Injun Joe in a dark graveyard; there you are fencing with Athos; there you are…beneath the deep blue sea- marveling at exotic creatures with Captain Nemo. I found myself between the pages of books, and that is why I write now, it's why I taught English and literature for so many years, and it's why my house contains more pounds of books than furniture. If I'd had my way, I'd have been a fencer…or a starship captain, or a lawyer, or a detective solving crimes. But instead, I am a writer, and that's the best thing in the world to be if you ask me, because as a writer, I can be all those things and more. If I hadn't learned to value the stories between the pages, who knows what would have happened? Certainly not college…teaching…or writing. Author Contact: Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/lee.brazil Twitter: @leebrazil Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/crawlinbedwithlee/ Publishers: Lime Time Press, Breathless Press, Evernight Publishing Cover Artist: Various I had the opportunity to ask Lee some questions. Here are her responses: 1. Tell us a little bit about yourself. I’m Lee Brazil, a writer of m/m romance. In a previous life I was at various times, an English teacher, a bookstore manager, a sales clerk, and a phone operator. Now I'm retired, I write. I write because I love reading, and while everyone knows there are millions of books out there, sometimes I have trouble finding the sort of thing I like to read. So I write it. The writing and publishing process is actually addictive. 2. You have an opportunity for one of your books to be made into a movie. Which one would you choose, and why? Loving Jacob. It's a very complex story about relationships, forgiveness, and the enduring quality of love. I think it would play out well on the big screen. 3. What do you do while writing that others might find unusual? *shifty eyes* Nothing, why what have you heard? *nudges secret stash box deeper beneath desk* Pay no attention to that. *sighs* Fine. I stop writing to bake when things are not going according to plan. Baking is sort of therapeutic to me, the ingredients always do exactly what they're supposed to, unlike characters in a book. 4. Do you listen to music while writing? If no, why not? If yes, how does it influence you? Yes, absolutely. I think that music helps set the tone and the mood of a piece sometimes. Some of my characters are born of musical inspiration. For instance, Tom Petty's The Apartment Song, "Neighbors knocking on my wall...I don't miss it much at all." The song is about something else, but I thought about that single phrase, and how that sort of attitude could develop, and a character was born. He hasn't made his appearance in any of my books yet, so I can't tell you more about him. 5. How do you celebrate a new book? Margaritas! I have yet to find a better way to celebrate anything! Well, except anniversaries. We celebrate those with a little more...uh. I’m going to shut up now and say thanks to everyone for stopping by to see me & Don’t forget to enter to win! ![]() Blurbs/Excerpts/Sales Links: Less Than All Nicholas Danville doesn’t trust his lover to share the depth of his attraction. He knows full well Victor must marry to fulfill his duty to his aristocratic family. Assuredly marriage will mean the end of their liaison. A youthful indiscretion leads to a humiliating encounter between Nicholas Danville and Lord Victor Ware. Nicholas is sent home in disgrace, and Victor continues life in the Ton. Years later, Nicholas's reproving parents send him to town to attain a degree of polish before he prepares for life as a member of the clergy. A chance encounter with an old friend leads to a new confrontation between Nicholas and Victor. This time, the attraction between them burns brighter, Nicholas is old enough to know his own mind, and Victor is done with self-denial. From ballrooms to gardens and opera houses, Victor sets about proving that a passionate liaison between two men is possible even under the narrow gaze of the Ton Less Than All excerpt: Peter had evidently taken the time to pull his glossy Hessians back on because Victor had swallowed half the glass before he heard the door click behind him. Lifting the glass to study the amber liquid in the firelight, he spoke without turning around. "I pay you an adequate allowance to cover your own establishment Peter, exactly because I do not wish to find hordes of drunken revelers have invaded my home." "I'm glad for Peter's sake that you're a generous man, My Lord Ware. But I'd hardly call our little gathering a horde." Victor whirled about to find Danville lounging in altogether too close a proximity. A single lingering glance impressed upon Victor the slender lithe frame, lovingly outlined by tight buff colored breeches, fine white linen shirt open at the neck. Both his discreetly embroidered waistcoat and his black tailcoat hung open. Danville’s inappropriate dishabille enticed him as the devil tempted sinners. He held up a hand as though to ward off the smaller man, but Danville stepped impossibly closer, and Victor groaned as his blood thrummed and his head swam. Strong arms wrapped around his neck, tugging his head down, and soft wet lips pressed lightly against his mouth. "I've waited years for this moment, Ware." Then Victor gave up listening, gave up fighting the response of his body as an agile tongue probed the seam of his lips, seeking entrance. He accepted Nicky's kiss, opened his mouth to suck at the questing tongue. He chased Nicky's tongue for what seemed like ages, his body hardening and heating with lust. His arms closed around Nicky's slender waist, hauling the man close so he could seek solace for the ache of his prick in grinding against the silk of Nicky's evening breeches. The shattering of his whiskey glass on the hearth broke the mood, and Nicky pulled away, retreating to the door. "I'm going now." He paused, hand on the doorknob. A strangely earnest expression crossed his face as he tilted his head to glance back at the stunned Victor. "Shall I return? Or do you forbid Peter's friends the run of your home?" He slipped from the room while Victor struggled to frame a coherent response. https://www.allromanceebooks.com/product-lessthanall-1551828-145.html?referrer=5314fed11fb4f http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00L01GQCO/ref=as_li_tl?ie=UTF8&camp=1789&creative=390957&creativeASIN=B00L01GQCO&linkCode=as2&tag=pridepromo-20&linkId=5VCZUBQRVACTGKLI ![]() A Gentleman Never Does Short of funds, Gareth proposes to wager for love. Unfortunately for him, Gareth Belmain isn't in the mood to be pushed aside. A wager leads to a walk in the garden and a kiss to angry words. Will a public challenge put an end to any hope they might have for a future together? A Gentleman Never Does Excerpt: "If you're short of funds, I don't wish to gamble with you for money." Gareth smirked, painted lips twisting. "Such an honorable man you are. Fine then, if we shall not play for money, then we play for love." A chill washed over Gideon. He shifted on the delicate chair, fearing it might splinter if he abused it too much. "For love?" Gareth whispered, "You were used to love me dearly. We could play for that." Gideon's dismay must have shown on his face, and again he cursed his inability to master the stoic boredom society expected of its young men and women. "Or maybe not. What stakes would you care to play for, my Corinthian friend?" The sardonic emphasis on Corinthian hurt a bit, as he had no doubt that Gareth intended it to. It angered Gideon that Gareth held such power over him still, to arouse his emotions, his body this way. Instead of answering the question Gareth had asked, he let his hurt and anger have sway. "Why are you without funds? Too many hours of shopping in Bond Street, my dear?" Gareth's blue eyes flickered and his narrow jaw tightened. Gideon's gaze focused on the tight pinch of his full lips. Those lips had touched his... He bit back a curse as his pantaloons grew uncomfortably tight. "Fuck." The coarse word was a hoarse whisper that he hoped no one else picked up on. Gareth's tension faded and his eyes sparkled with mirth. "No, dear heart. A gentleman never pays his tailor before his gaming debts. If you must know, I played a little too deep the other night at that new hell, off Curzon street." The lure of cards had always been impossible for Gareth to resist. They'd often played together at school and through long rainy days at home. So Gideon knew that Gareth might be susceptible to the lure of the cards, but he wasn't a bad player. While losing wasn't unheard of, it was rare. "I can float you a bit till quarter day if you like." Gideon offered. "Kind of you, but no. If you were inclined to lose to me, that would be one thing. The dashing soldier takes completely to heart his father's advice to his children, "If you are fortunate enough to find love, then seize it." Is a chance encounter at a masquerade Randall's chance at lifetime love? Randall’s Romance Excerpt He closed the door behind himself and turned the key in the lock. The book room was lit by a single porcelain candelabrum on the mantel piece. In the flickering candlelight he located Terence at the fireplace, swirling a snifter of brandy in his hand. Terence turned his head, tensing at the sound of the key turning in the lock. "Never fear. It's just me. I'd about given up hope of finding you; there are so very many highwaymen present tonight. Next time you must choose a more singular disguise." Checking the room carefully for any other entrance, Randall realized Terence had chosen the perfect place for their encounter. The highwayman glanced back at him, dark eyes glittering through the slits of his long mask. "I'd hate to draw attention." Hi voice was muffled by the mask, but Randall caught the faint foreign accent he aped and rolled his eyes. Randall felt his blood heat as that hooded gaze traveled down his form. His cock stirred and this time he made no move to hide his interest. "Truth, Terence, attention is to be avoided, but there is something to be said for ease of recognition in these circumstances." He crossed the Aubusson carpet to stand in front of his lover, drew the man to him. Terence came willingly enough into his embrace, but when Randall tried to raise the man's domino to reveal his features, Terence caught his hand in a gloved grip. "No. Just in case, we must be discreet." "I did lock the door, you know." Randall buried his face in the fabric and tightened his arms, crushing Terence along his length. The man's costume was a miracle of tailoring, for he seemed to have even added padding to his narrow shoulders and lifts to his boots. "Yes, but that might not be the only key." Truly, Terence was more concerned than usual about being recognized! He'd even foregone his normal heavy drenching of spicy oriental scent in favor of a delicate sandalwood cologne that teased at Randall's senses quite delightfully. Reluctantly Randall released his crushing grip on the domino and let his hands slide down Terence's back to cup his taut buttocks through the thin pantaloons. "Very well, then. Come away with me for the night so we can be private." "I cannot." Hard hands closed on his own buttocks, squeezed them meaningfully. Randall shivered. His cock thickened, his blood stirred. Terence pulled him closer still, so that their groins rested against one another. A few thin layers of fabric separated them, but the heat was as unmistakable as the thick ridge his prick rubbed against. "But I leave tomorrow, I told you as much." Randall protested, grinding into the sweet pressure on his prick. "Never mind. If this is all the moment we have, then I want more than this." He wedged his hands in between their bodies, enjoyed Terence's gasp when he squeezed the man's prick through his pantaloons, and began working their garments open. "You're very bold tonight." The breathless statement was followed by a swift, muttered curse as Randall caught their pricks in his hand and stroked them together. "I?" Randall leaned into Terence and bit the man's ear lobe sharply. "I suggested we meet in the usual place, secure and behind closed doors. You were the one who had a hankering for challenging the ton. Is it turning you on, making you hot to think that just a few feet away the others are dancing and drinking and making merry?" "Damn you, harder!" Terence's hand closed over his and Randall shuddered as the grip tightened, the rhythm roughened. He stared down between them, to where their hands slid up and down, squeezing drops of clear liquid from each prick that mingled and streamed down to slick the path of their movements. Terence's hand on his cock was more erotic than ever, and maybe it was the thought of being caught out, of the scandal that lurked, but his body was tensing, and beads of perspiration formed. He threw back his head, slipped his free hand down the back of Terence's pantaloons and into his small clothes. Terence trembled against him, Randall soothed him with a whispered word, cupped his buttock, and let his fingers trail along the crease of the man's arse. "Have a care...we can't do that here." "I am aware," he chuckled dryly, catching his breath. His fingers brushed over the puckered hole, Terence shuddered, his cock stiffening still further, the skin stretched so tight and fine Randal could swear he felt the man's heart beat in the blood that swelled his organ. "Damnation...so very good." Terence was bucking into his grip, losing his rhythm. Randal rubbed the hole, pressed the very tip of his finger inside, and let the exultation flood him as Terence's seed spilled along his cock, in jet after jet. "That's right." He murmured. "Give me your pleasure." He milked the softening cock of every last drop of seed, then wiped them both off with his handkerchief. His cock throbbed with want, and he smiled at the man he'd come to realize was most decidedly not Terence. "At this point, Terence would drop to his knees and suck me. Are you of a like mind?" "So you've realized I'm not your friend, have you?" The strange highwayman tucked himself away and refastened his pantaloons. "What happens now?" "Now, I'm still in need of release, and you are a likeminded fellow it seems. If you cannot bring yourself to suck me, then your hand will do as well." The black domino muted the man's laughter, but he obligingly dropped to his knees on the plush carpet and with a little deft maneuvering of his mask and Randall's cock, had him encased in wet heat and strong suction within moments. Randall sighed and let his hands rest on the velvet of the mask, ordinarily he'd have twined his fingers in his lover's hair, to give his hands something to do. Idle hands are the devil's work his mother used to say, but then again...so was this sodomy. "You're very good at this," he sighed, sinking deeply into the wet mouth, enjoying the light scrape of teeth. His blood surged, an agile tongue toyed with the tip of his cock on each retreat, swirling and sucking, drawing rushes of pleasure from him as his body tensed, thighs stiffening. Heat pooled and exploded, and with it his seed pulsed into the receptive mouth. He wants his characters to have their happily ever after, but that doesn’t mean that it’s going to come easily. None of this would have happened if he had followed the advice he was given many years ago. “What are you wasting your time on that for? It’s never going to amount to anything.” He believed it for the longest time, abandoning characters he’d created in his childhood. He picked up his very first m/m story by a writer named Eden Winters, who was an absolute joy when they corresponded. She asked him if he wrote and he told her the story. Eden explained to Will that the voices in his head would never go away and how he needed to let them out. With that thought in mind, Will put e-pen to e-paper once more. It was truly a liberating experience and one he has no intention of giving up again. Excerpt: ADDY SAT in the car, worry creasing his brow. Not even an hour ago, he’d been so happy. Why was he so nervous now? His thoughts drifted back to his conversation with his dad. Would Benny still want him when he found out what had happened? Would he think Addy was too broken? Addy shivered. He tried to tell himself Benny would never be like that, but how could he know for sure? “What’s up, little man? I can hear you thinking from over here.” Benny chuckled. “Nothing, Benny. I’m okay.” “Addy, c’mon. I can tell you’ve got something on your mind. I need to know what it is. I can’t help if you won’t let me.” Addy took a deep breath. “I’m afraid,” he admitted. “Of what? Camp?” “No... of losing you.” “I don’t understand. Why would you think you’d lose me?” “Benny.” Addy sighed. “I need to tell you some stuff. It’s not going to be easy, and it’s really not going to be nice.” Tour Dates/Stops: 9/22: Because Two Men Are Better Than One, Joyfully Jay, Velvet Panic 9/23: The Hat Party, Iyana Jenna, Rainbow Gold Reviews 9/24: Prism Book Alliance, Scattered Thoughts & Rogue Words 9/25: LeAnn’s Book Reviews, Havan Fellows, Andrew Q. Excerpt: “My sweet witch.” He ran his hands up my back. “Thank you.” He snuck one hand under my sweater, and I shivered when his skin touched mine. He didn’t pause, but laid the palm flat on my back, filling me with heat and desire. “Fuck, Salil.” “You have a very dirty mouth, witch.” He added his other hand, pulling me close, running his mouth along my cheek. About Laura Harner: Raised in California, Laura likes it hot, which explains why she ended up in Arizona via such diverse places as Japan, Maine, and Florida, and many more places in between. After retiring from the US Navy, she found a niche working for land management agencies, including the National Park Service and the Bureau of Land Management. Though she has held many jobs around the world, her favorite was working and living in Grand Canyon National Park. Working (and eating) in New Orleans was a close second. You will find many of her books are set against the rich backdrops provided by coastal Louisiana and northern Arizona. When asked how she started writing, Laura tells of waking on Boxing Day a few years ago, with a woman named Elena MacFarland yammering in her dreams, demanding her story be told. Despite never attempting to write fiction before that morning, Laura ignored all of the holiday visitors and the Highland Destiny series was born. She doesn’t believe it was a coincidence that the great grandmother who died when Laura was just a baby was named Elena MacFarland. Destiny does play a hand. Laura became a full-time writer in 2012, and now she spends her time writing, watching her Arizona Diamondbacks, and working on her very own version of the Willow Springs Ranch in northwestern Arizona. She is a multi-published author of erotic romance, mystery, and urban fantasy and her books can be found at all major online retailers. When the case was over, so were they. Although they went their separate ways, life—and death—keep the men connected. After another deadly tragedy touches both their lives, the men say what they believe must be their final goodbyes—only to have their worlds collide once again. This time they end up in Las Vegas, one man for work, the other to try to mend a very personal pain. Although Jamie and Remy once excelled at mixing business with pleasure—this time, the stakes are much higher—they’ve got forever on the line. When they discover Jamie’s case has an unexpected connection to Remy’s son, they must put everything aside to find Toby before the young man makes a decision that will change all of their lives. One thing is positive, time is running out. Excerpt: “I don’t know if I can do this, cowboy,” Jamie whispered. Even while his heart was busy trying to put on the brakes, his traitorous hands slid to Remy’s waist. He leaned up to steal another kiss. The slide of slick tongue, the wet heat, familiar taste all insistently telegraphed the same message. This is right. Jamie arched toward Remy, tugging at his shirt, sliding hands along the hot flesh, pulling him closer. Returning the kiss, Remy made a noise halfway between a groan and a growl, then took a commanding control, forcing his head back, their tongues dancing in an addicting blend of white-hot urgency. Just like the first time they’d kissed, the effect of Remington’s kiss was like no other. It wasn’t just a kiss, it was an assault on his senses that left his head spinning and his lungs desperate for oxygen. Even his toes tingled. Intense. Passionate. Perfect. They fit together in a way he’d never been able to duplicate with any other man. Yin and Yang. Black and Tan. Fish and Chips. Breaking their kiss, Jamie nearly snorted with laughter. Immediately, Remy dropped his hands to his sides and took a giant step backward. “I’m sorry, Jamie. I didn’t mean to—” His eyes were heavy, the lush lips swollen from their kisses, the dress shirt untucked and rumpled. Jamie wanted to finish undressing him, to use his mouth to ravish that beautiful body. Trying to focus, Jamie said, “No—it’s not that. I was thinking—” “Always dangerous with you,” Remy interrupted. Jamie laughed again. “Too true. I was thinking about how perfectly our kisses seem to fit together. The things you do to me are like no one else…then I lost the thread.” He repeated his thoughts. “Like fish and chips? Seriously?” Now Remy was laughing, too. “How do I go from being your best kiss to being compared to a piece of cod?” Jamie shook his head. “I don’t know. Nerves, maybe?” Remy nodded. “I’ll go back to my room.” “No,” Jamie practically shouted. Remy tilted his head and blinked. The man probably thought him mad. Maybe he was. “Jamie, help me out here. What can’t you do? How can I help?” Remy took Jamie’s hand and started to lead him toward the couch. Jamie tugged him to the bedroom instead. “I don’t want you to leave, Remy. Really, I don’t. Let’s go to bed.” “Jamie, you don’t have to do this. In fact—shit, I can’t believe I’m saying this—but I’d rather we not do anything if you’re not sure.” “That’s just the trouble, Remy. I’m sure I want this.” He used two fingers to point back and forth between them. “What I’m afraid of is what happens afterward. I’m not sure I can…survive watching you walk away again. And God, I’m so sorry. I know it’s way too soon for both of us—too soon after Miggy—too soon for this to be something you can commit to. That’s what scares me.” Remy pulled Jamie so they both sat on the edge of the bed. Their hips touched, but Remy leaned forward, resting his elbows on his knees, the position he always assumed when he needed a bit of self-protection. “I get that. I’m scared, too, you know. It nearly killed me to watch you walk away in Phoenix. And you’re right, it’s too early to search out Elvis and put on wedding bands. But Jamie, I don’t think it’s too soon to say we can try.” Jamie’s stomach twisted, and his heart thudded erratically. Remy turned his head, and gave him a half smile. “Miggy…his death was ugly, beyond senseless. It was a fucking bomb, set two years ago by that asshole Cortez. And we never knew. We all went about living our lives—never once considering we were running out of time. All of us, Jamie—not just Migs. But here’s the thing…I don’t regret the journey, even if I hate the ending. But I have to wonder, what other time bombs are waiting for us? What regrets would we have if one of us died tomorrow?” The words released the binds around his heart. As if someone opened the starting gate, Jamie surged forward, knocking Remy back onto the bed with an oomph. Like the crazed man he was beginning to suspect he was, he fumbled until he managed to get Remy’s shirt and slacks open. He was making splendid progress until he was distracted by the warmth of the big hands that slipped under his shirt and the roll of Remy’s hips. Even through their remaining clothes, hard length pressed against hard length. “Jamie,” Remy said his name like some sort of incantation, weaving a spell with his voice. Jamie cried out when he was flipped over, his back landing on the mattress with a thud, and he was pinned by the weight of Remy’s body. His mouth was plundered as Remy tasted and pulled back before tasting again. So much like their first time. Breaking their kiss, Remy rose to his knees and tugged his shirt over his head, then stood and gave Jamie a long look. Jamie remembered the taste of those finely pebbled brown nubs, the scrape of the coarse brown chest hair, the heat of the golden skin. Still Remy waited, thumbs hooked inside his waistband, the zipper unfastened, more than a hint of cock showing, since he’d obviously gone commando. Jamie licked his lips and glanced up to meet Remy’s heavy look. Only then did Remy finally let his slacks drop to the floor. Jamie unfastened his own pants, but Remy pushed his hands aside and finished undressing him, adding his clothes to the growing pile. Then they were pressed naked together and Remy’s mouth found his once more. “Say my name,” he demanded. Jamie smiled. “Remy,” he mumbled against the warm lips that branded him as claimed. “Remy. Remy.” “Fuck, Jamie. I love the way you say my name,” Remy whispered. Phil Brask spends his days in the basement of his mentor's Victorian home, converting legal documents into electronic format. When the pipe feeding the water heater bursts, Lee Redding arrives in the plumber’s truck and draws Phil away from the narrow focus of his computer and camera lens. Lee gives Phil hope for a life beyond the walls he’s constructed using the nesting habits of migratory birds and dense legal files, a guided tour through a world filled with romance and music…maybe even family. But there’s a reason Phil retreated behind those walls, why he panics at a simple touch. Lee has a good life—working with his uncle and on his mother’s farm, playing bass in a horrible metal band, and hooking up when he pleases—but he’s always suspected something was missing. When he meets the hot photographer with the icy-blue eyes, he knows exactly what that something is. Phil isn’t like other guys, but neither is Lee beneath his carefree exterior. Maybe Lee's the perfect guy to show Phil that everything doesn’t have to be done the hard way and "home" isn't a four-letter word. Excerpt: “Your pictures, they’re amazing.” Lee said, his voice calm and steady and filled with sincere awe. “What’s this in her beak?” Lee carefully scrolled forward, and Phil realized Lee had thumbed through all the pictures from that morning and some from last evening as well. He’d been out of it longer than he thought. “It’s a spiderweb. Hummingbirds use them to build their nests.” Two sentences. Phil couldn’t remember when he’d last gotten two sentences out just the way he’d intended. He smiled and raised his eyes to Lee’s. They seemed to mirror what he was feeling. Relief; happiness; desire. The next thing he knew, Lee’s lips brushed his lightly. Phil trembled but didn’t pull away. Pride in his perfect speech along with the giddy feeling inspired by Lee’s smile allowed Phil to give in to desire, just for a moment, to take a chance it would end well. Lee leaned toward him, but not so their shoulders touched, and kissed him just a few seconds longer. He kept his mouth almost completely closed, but Phil tasted a hint of hot chocolate. Or maybe the heat came from Lee. “Whoa,” Lee sighed as much as said. Click here for...
