21/1/2017 0 Comments Rabbit Hole Writing ChallengeToday I began Rabbit Hole Writers’ Challenge. It’s a program run by the Queensland Writers Centre where writers are challenged to write 30000 words over three days. I had to work on Friday so couldn’t begin until today. Today's total was 7003 words.
The story I’m working on, Shattered Lives, is one I haven’t looked at for six months. When Warrior Pledge went into edits with Dreamspinner Press, I began working on the sequel to it (currently titled Dragon God). I finished that story on Monday and put it aside for a week before I begin serious editing. Shattered Lives is probably the most complicated story I’ve ever attempted. It’s set on two planets, in two different dimensions over three time periods. Keeping all of that straight in my head is challenge enough. Making sure it also makes sense on paper is even more so. So far, it’s not working, but the potential is there so I’m going to keep going until it’s finished. Once I have the story line down, I’ll be able to work out which pieces need to be told in flashback and which parts have to be told chronologically. I’m looking forward to the challenge. That’s it for this week - 222 words added to my Rabbit Hole word count for the day.
